Auld Hat - New Heids
Ian Bruce, Fraser Bruce and Gregor Lowrey
In the 1960's/70's practically every town of any size in Scotland had a thriving folk club filled with people laughing, having fun and singing along to the songs they knew. Those days have long gone but 'Auld Hat - New Heids' recreates these fabulous times. 'Come along and sing along' is the invitation and the audiences do -they really do! At Celtic Connections Festival (2017), AH-NH was a huge sell-out hit: "this concert will go down as one of the most memorable nights, up there with the best concerts over the years" (Danny Matheson, celticmusicradio.net)

The group released their debut EP (Mink Records), recorded at the Abbey Road Institute in Amsterdam in May 2018, and their music has received critical acclaim from Folk Radio UK and BBC Scotland. Following their win at the Danny Kyle competition (Celtic Connections 2017), Avocet notably opened for Ralph McTell at the City Halls, Glasgow who commented, "some of my closest friends were in Pentangle and a comparison is not out of place... a very special group".
